Merry Merry!

Christmas Letter 2014!
I know y'all have been waiting by your mailboxes for my annual Christmas card.
I know y'all have been dying to see how precious the Martin kiddos are this year.
I know y'all are going to open your cards and think this is the most precious they have been.
I know these things, but the truth is they are most precious when they are asleep!  And I am NOT going to take a picture of them asleep & risk waking them - not even for y'all.

Here we are another year older & hopefully another year wiser.
Here we are in our simple Southern city with 4 kids and 5 busy schedules. (Baby hasn't figured out how to have an activity yet.)

Our sweet princess, Baylor, is eleven & will start middle school next year - CRAZY!  She is super smart & LOVES to read.  She is a good little helper & keeps us all in line.  She loves soccer & tried tennis this year. Basketball is a new sport this Winter. She had a friend move to AU this Summer & now uses football as an excuse for weekends away.

William is about to be 9.  He still LOVES sports - I mean, OBSESSES.  We played flag football this year & are in the middle of basketball right now.  I use sports situations to explain math & reading & anything else that needs explaining, if I relate it to sports he gets it.  3rd grade is harder, but with your best buddy in your class it is so worth it.

Whitt is 7 & learning to read.  He is loving his new school & making new friends like a pro!  He tried baseball & is also playing basketball.  He still has the best dance moves in the family.  Everyone says he is "to sweet for words."  His imagination gets bigger everyday.

Baby Lee just turned 2!  He is in charge around here.  The kids say he is so cute so they just do what he says.  He has us all figured out.  He loves to run & is quite fast.  He loves to talk!  He is OBSESSED with cars "beeping." Our sweet neighbors drive by & honk their horns for Lee multiple times/day. Lee-Lee, as everyone calls him can tell you anything you need to know about the local Christmas decorations & whose car beeps & where the siblings are at any given moment.

Marty & I are just running around after those 4.  We both took weekends away this Fall for a little relaxation & enjoyed a trip to LA earlier this year.  It is so fun being married to your funny best friend!

We have a new nephew & niece & love watching our family grow!  Sweet memories are being made with all these cousins!

My mom is overcoming breast cancer at the moment & is SuperWoman!  She is handling all this like it is no big deal.  Once again she steps up to the plate & shows us all how it is done.  I get stopped multiple times a day with people telling me how amazing she is & how she continuously makes an impact on their lives.  I am learning a lot about myself through this battle.  Please keep her in your prayers -chemo will be over at the end of February.  It is times like this that make you even more grateful for a big family.  As we sat in a hospital waiting room I watched my dad minister to people & I spent that time connecting even deeper with my siblings.  God is good!

We pray you have a year with sweet moments & sweet family time.

Merry Christmas! the Martins

Merry Christmas! How are we here?       How has this year gone by so fast?            How is it almost 2024? She is doing some babysitting & pre-teaching over her Christmas break & some more TALKING with friends. William will be 18 any day now! He just made the Men's Soccer Varsity squad for his Senior year & so that makes the 3rd team of this year! He will be joining big sister in Auburn come August & I am sure his dorm room will be a little less complicated. He is half-way through his Senior year & doing well in school. He studies, works, plays soccer & then a little more soccer. He & Whitt are tryi

Christmas Letter 2022

"I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord,  & they shall be my people & I shall be their God. . ." Jeremiah 24:7 Merry Christmas 2022! Wow! What a year ~ I am exhausted & joyful & so excited all at the same time! We have a COLLEGE STUDENT! She did AMAZING! I cried like a baby & still do from time-to-time. Baylor is 19 & is loving life on the plains. She has gotten involved & made new friends. She studies & loves her classes. She loves football & basketball games & amidst all that STILL manages to squeeze in 40,000+ words a day! WFM5 - William, our Cinco is a soccer champ once again! He drives to work, school, soccer & EATS. He has made me so proud managing work, school & soccer & studying for ACT & college visits. Doing all well & having fun! So Many Things . . .

So many things have happened . . . So many things good things & so many hard things. So many things that we cannot explain & things we saw coming years ago. So many people & so many places. This momma's heart has had to learn to watch them fly & soar. I keep thinking back to what my Daddy said at our wedding " . . . you give your children roots & wings." It is hard to give them roots that run deep & how you instill true values in them. It is also hard to watch them open their wings ready to soar. They are soaring! They are learning SOOO much & watching these adventures is a true gift. I know one day I will look back as this being a great joy of my life. I am experiencing hurt but it is amidst such beauty & growth. My baby girl has started to fly & she is flying strong. As soon as she started off on her journey she hit a few unexpected bumps & she took a minute, re-grouped & then just kept on going. She was strong & brave. S
