Alabamians & Racing

I would venture to guess that at least 75% of Alabamians have been to see the races. No, I am not talking about a fancy, were a $500 hat type of horse race. I am talking about car racing where they go around the same few turns for about 1 1/2 hours. 90 times! (A little redundant if you ask me) Well, we tried it out. The INDY racing cars were in Bham & Marty got free tickets handed to him so he was going to take the boys & I said well if you take the boys then Bay will want to go & I might as well try it out. I went, I did & I will very rarely go back. Notice I did not say I will NOT go back, I am realistic, I have 2 boys & in the construction business sub-contractors are always giving us freebies (good ones I might add). It was fun - however we were not prepared. I did not have enough water, we should have picked a spot & stayed & not wandered around to "check it out." If you have a boy & chances are they LOVE cars you need to take them. Next time I will be more prepared, or send SuperDaddy more prepared. But the most impirtatn thinkg was that the kids loved it.

Racing must be a religion just as football is, the people that heard me say I thought it was just a few times around the track laughed & then recommended I not try out Talladega - evidently that is a whole 'nother world. Although I already knew I would not try Talladega. Just think if everyone who paid for their tickets donated that $50 bucks to charity along with the money we spent on water & the cooler people spent on beer we could fund 100% of the research to cure cancer.

But they love it like we love AU football- actually I may venture to say they love it almost as much as Bay loves school. Anyway, I will never understand why they go around the track 90 times, but to each his own & I guess some people say that about football - why do we watch the same plays for 4 quarters on the same piece of grass for 50 years & yell & drink beer the whole time?? Who knows why we do these thing, but they make "Sweet Home Alabama" the great place that it is.

Ask Willliam about the race & he can explain it better with hand motions to how the cars move.

Do not ask Whitt, b/c he slept through the part we watched.

Thanks for listening, Jocelyn

Happy New Year 2025!

Well, the end of 2024 caught us a little off-guard. So I am little late . . .  2024 started off with WFM5 turning 18! CRAZY! In the middle of 2024 Bay turned 21! CRAZY! Whitty is 17 & Baby Lee is in middle school! CRAZY! How can they be this old? How can 2 live in another city? How can the hubby be 50??! We had a lot of fun this year, we traveled & tailgated. We laughed & laughed some more.  We also grew this year inside & out, in times of tears & joy. We lost our sweet friend - Kim Haynes, our Auntie Kim. We had moments of telling her daughter that Mommy went to Heaven, we had hard conversations & times to say goodbye.  We had times of telling EK how wonderful her momma was. 2024 also sent another to AUBURN! Momma may have cried the whole way home. But to see him thrive brought Momma such joy.  Baylor (21) is studying education at AU & is having a blast with her cute friends, in her cute house. She stays busy with schools, concerts ...

HOW???

How is it time for Summer? How are we buying teacher gifts? How have I registered my baby girl for her senior year of high school? How have we had 5 days of soccer try-outs & we are only halfway through? How are we scheduling senior portraits & ordering senior jerseys? How are 2 of them taller than me with bigger feet? How do they make their own plans & inform me of what they are? How do we have 1.5 drivers at our house? How do they stay up later than me? How is all this happening so fast? HOW?
